Publication Ethics Policy

Purpose

Scholar Insight Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. The Journal follows internationally recognized ethical principles and best practices to ensure the quality, credibility, and reliability of the scholarly record.

This policy applies to all authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and editorial staff involved in the publication process.

Scope

The Journal expects every participant in the publication process to adhere to the principles of honesty, fairness, transparency, accountability, confidentiality, and research integrity.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to:

  • Submit only original and unpublished work.

  • Ensure that manuscripts are not under consideration by another journal simultaneously.

  • Accurately present research methods, findings, and conclusions.

  • Properly acknowledge and cite all sources.

  • Disclose all financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.

  • Obtain ethical approval where required.

  • Obtain informed consent when research involves human participants.

  • Correct significant errors promptly if discovered after publication.

  • Comply with all Journal policies throughout the publication process.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submitted work.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the research.

Gift authorship, guest authorship, honorary authorship, and ghost authorship are considered unethical and are not accepted.

All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools must comply with the Journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.

Authors must disclose any significant AI assistance used during manuscript preparation.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot accept responsibility for published work or meet internationally recognized authorship criteria.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based reviews.

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit.

  • Declare any conflicts of interest.

  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.

  • Refrain from using confidential information for personal or professional advantage.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making fair, impartial, and independent editorial decisions.

  • Selecting qualified reviewers.

  • Protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.

  • Managing conflicts of interest appropriately.

  • Ensuring that editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit.

  • Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected research misconduct.

Editorial decisions are independent of commercial, institutional, political, or personal influence.

Research Misconduct

The Journal has zero tolerance for research misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism

  • Self-plagiarism

  • Data fabrication

  • Data falsification

  • Duplicate publication

  • Redundant publication

  • Citation manipulation

  • Image manipulation

  • Fake authorship

  • Fake peer review

  • Undisclosed use of AI-generated content

  • Any other unethical publishing practice

Suspected misconduct will be investigated in accordance with internationally accepted publication ethics procedures.

Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the objectivity of the publication process.

Where a conflict exists, appropriate editorial measures will be taken.

Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and unpublished materials are treated as confidential documents.

Confidential information must not be disclosed to unauthorized individuals or used for personal benefit.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

Where necessary, the Journal may publish:

  • Corrections (Errata)

  • Retractions

  • Expressions of Concern

These actions are taken to preserve the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record.

Complaints and Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation supported by appropriate evidence.

Complaints regarding editorial processes or publication ethics will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with internationally recognized ethical standards.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently by the editorial team without interference from the publisher, sponsors, advertisers, or any external organization.

Academic quality and ethical standards remain the sole basis for editorial decisions.

Policy Review

Scholar Insight Journal periodically reviews and updates this Publication Ethics Policy to remain aligned with developments in scholarly publishing, research integrity, and international best practices.

This policy is informed by internationally recognized publication ethics principles and reflects the recommendations and best practices of:

  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
