Long-term Preservation Policy

Long-term Preservation Policy

Purpose

Scholar Insight Journal is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, accessibility, and availability of its published scholarly content. The Journal adopts recognized digital preservation practices to safeguard the scholarly record and ensure continued access for researchers, authors, librarians, and the wider academic community.

Digital Preservation Strategy

To preserve the integrity and long-term accessibility of its publications, Scholar Insight Journal employs multiple preservation mechanisms, including:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

  • Internet Archive

  • Routine Hosting Backups

The use of multiple preservation methods provides redundancy and strengthens the security, stability, and long-term availability of the Journal's published content.

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Scholar Insight Journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to preserve eligible published content.

The PKP Preservation Network is a free digital preservation service developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) specifically for journals using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. It provides secure, distributed preservation of published scholarly content to ensure long-term accessibility.

Internet Archive

The Journal also archives its published content through the Internet Archive, an internationally recognized digital library dedicated to preserving digital information for future generations.

Archiving through the Internet Archive enhances the discoverability, accessibility, and long-term preservation of the Journal's published articles.

Routine Hosting Backups

In addition to external preservation services, the Journal maintains routine hosting backups to protect website files, databases, and published content against accidental loss, technical failures, or other unforeseen events.

These backups support disaster recovery and ensure business continuity.

Preservation of Published Content

The Journal preserves the official Version of Record (VoR) of all published articles, including:

  • Full-text articles

  • PDF files

  • Metadata

  • Supplementary materials (where applicable)

Preserved content remains part of the permanent scholarly record.

Metadata Preservation

Scholar Insight Journal maintains accurate bibliographic metadata to facilitate indexing, discovery, citation, and long-term retrieval of published research.

Where applicable, metadata includes article titles, author information, abstracts, keywords, publication dates, licensing information, and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Accessibility

The Journal is committed to ensuring that preserved scholarly content remains accessible without unnecessary restrictions in accordance with its Open Access Policy.

Disaster Recovery

Routine backups and distributed preservation mechanisms help ensure that published content can be restored in the event of server failure, accidental data loss, or other technical incidents.

Policy Review

This Long-term Preservation Policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated to reflect developments in digital preservation technologies, publishing standards, and international best practices.
