Long-term Preservation Policy

1. Purpose

Scholar Insight Journal is committed to the long-term preservation, integrity, authenticity, accessibility, and continued availability of its published scholarly content. The Journal maintains digital preservation and archiving arrangements designed to safeguard the scholarly record and support continued access to published research in the event of technical failure, data loss, or interruption of the Journal’s publishing operations.

The Journal follows recognized principles of digital preservation and periodically reviews its preservation arrangements to ensure their continued effectiveness.

2. Digital Preservation Strategy

Scholar Insight Journal employs multiple preservation and backup measures to reduce the risk of permanent loss of published scholarly content.

The Journal’s current preservation arrangements include:

·        LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)

·        CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

·        Routine hosting and database backups

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS provide distributed preservation mechanisms for the Journal’s published content, while routine backups support operational recovery and business continuity.

The Journal will review and, where appropriate, adopt additional recognized preservation services as they become available and compatible with its publishing infrastructure.

3. LOCKSS Preservation

Scholar Insight Journal has enabled the LOCKSS preservation mechanism through its Open Journal Systems (OJS) publishing platform.

LOCKSS supports distributed preservation by allowing participating libraries and preservation infrastructure to maintain copies of journal content. This provides an additional layer of protection against the loss or unavailability of the Journal’s primary website.

The Journal maintains its LOCKSS publisher manifest through its OJS platform.

4. CLOCKSS Preservation

Scholar Insight Journal has enabled the CLOCKSS preservation mechanism through its OJS publishing platform.

CLOCKSS provides a distributed and independent preservation infrastructure designed to ensure the long-term survival and accessibility of scholarly publications.

The Journal maintains its CLOCKSS publisher manifest through its OJS platform and will comply with applicable preservation and participation requirements.

5. Routine Backups and Disaster Recovery

In addition to external digital preservation mechanisms, Scholar Insight Journal maintains routine backups of its publishing infrastructure.

Backups may include:

·        Journal databases

·        Published article files

·        Metadata

·        Website configuration and essential publishing files

·        Other data necessary for restoration of the publishing platform

Routine backups are intended primarily for disaster recovery, operational continuity, and restoration following accidental deletion, technical failure, server problems, or other unforeseen incidents.

Routine hosting backups are considered a supplementary recovery measure and do not replace independent long-term digital preservation services.

6. Preservation of the Scholarly Record

The Journal seeks to preserve the authoritative Version of Record (VoR) of published scholarly works.

Preservation arrangements may include:

·        Full-text articles

·        Article PDFs

·        Bibliographic metadata

·        Article abstracts and keywords

·        Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)

·        Supplementary materials, where applicable

·        Publication and issue information

The preserved scholarly record is intended to remain stable and retrievable as part of the Journal’s permanent publication record.

7. Metadata Preservation and Persistent Identification

Scholar Insight Journal maintains structured and accurate bibliographic metadata to support discovery, identification, citation, indexing, and long-term retrieval of published research.

Where applicable, metadata includes:

·        Article title

·        Author name and affiliation

·        Abstract

·        Keywords

·        Publication date

·        Volume and issue

·        Page information

·        DOI

·        ISSN

·        Copyright and licensing information

·        References and other bibliographic information

Persistent identifiers, including DOIs where assigned, are maintained to support reliable identification and citation of published works.

8. Open and Continued Accessibility

Scholar Insight Journal is an open-access journal. Published articles are intended to remain freely accessible online in accordance with the Journal’s Open Access and Licensing Policies.

Digital preservation arrangements are intended to support continued access to the scholarly record even in circumstances where the Journal’s primary publishing platform becomes temporarily unavailable or requires restoration.

9. Preservation Integrity

The Journal seeks to preserve the authenticity and integrity of its published Version of Record. Published articles are not ordinarily altered after publication except through formally documented corrections, retractions, or other editorial actions in accordance with the Journal’s applicable policies.

Where corrections or retractions are issued, the Journal maintains an appropriate connection between the original publication and the subsequent editorial record.

12. Policy Review
